ROB BLACKIE

Established in 2009, Take The Shot Productions Inc. is a television and film production company whose work has garnered critical and commercial success domestically and around the world. TTS produces a variety of both scripted and unscripted projects for television. Productions include the Discovery Canada/Netflix Original Series Frontier starring Game of Thrones’ Jason Momoa, the Gemini-nominated series Republic of Doyle, the hit factual series Majumder Manor, Boy on Bridge featuring Great Big Sea frontman Alan Doyle, and HBO Canada’s Shaun Majumder, Every Word is Absolutely True. In October 2015, TTS and Co-Producer eOne, announced a new 6-Part series for CBC entitled Caught, based on the novel by the same title.

Rob Blackie’s career in the film and television industry began in 2000 as the Production Supervisor with Halifax-based production company IMX Communications Inc. In 2004, he joined Granada America New York, post-producing and supervising the hit television series, The First 48. In 2005, Rob directed the award-winning short entitled Deathsquad, and in 2010, the DGC Award-winning Best Short Film Quiet At Dawn. Rob is a producer of the feature length documentaries Boy On Bridge and Shaun Majumder’s Every Word Is Absolutely True, as well as writer and producer of Republic of Doyle and more recently co-creator and executive producer of the new Netflix/Discovery Canada fur trade drama, Frontier. Rob holds a Masters in Fine Arts (Film) from Columbia University (2007) along with a Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Laws from Dalhousie University (1999). Rob resides in St. John’s with his wife Sarah, and their two kids Alexandria and Charles.
