Kickham East Productions is an independent production company whose primary activity is to create, develop and produce high quality dramatic programming for theatrical and television audiences. Kickham East’s award-winning repertoire, diverse in subject matter, genre and format, has
earned national and international acclaim. The company focuses on compelling stories told in unique ways, designed to resonate with audiences. Principal and producer Jennice Ripley, based in St. John’s, Newfoundland, founded the company in 2000. She has experience in feature films, television drama and documentaries, including
international co-production. The company is developing a slate of projects that demonstrates its impressive track record of building collaborative relationships with a broad range of
creative talent.
Jennice Ripley has been producing in the Canadian film and television industry for over twenty-five years. Over the course of her eclectic career she has produced feature films,
television drama, comedy series and documentaries.
Television highlights include the Gemini award winning, eight hour mini-series Random Passage, the CBC comedy pilot Rabbittown and the History Television docudrama Stealing
Mary. She has also produced award-winning documentaries such as Changing Minds, Puppets Against Aids and Thinking Positive. Her feature films include The Bread Maker,
Extraordinary Visitor, Secret Nation, and Down to the Dirt, for which she acted as Executive Producer. Her feature film, Crackie, premiered internationally at Karlovy Vary Festival, and in Canada at the Toronto International Film Festival. Crackie won the Special Jury Award at the Torino International Film Festival, was selected for New Directors/New Films at MoMa in 2010 and was named one of the Top Ten Canadian films of 2009.
Versed in both the financing and the creative development of dramatic storytelling Ripley brings a strong blend of business experience and artistic vision to the world of independent filmmaking. Committed to industry and talent development, she has served for many years on boards – locally, regionally and nationally -and volunteered countless hours to the creation and sustainability of the film and television industry in her province.
