LYNNE WILSON
Wreckhouse Productions is a St. John’s based film production company established by producers Jill Knox-Gosse and Lynne Wilson. The company was formed to develop and produce feature films, television and digital content for the Canadian and international markets. Jill Knox-Gosse has extensive experience in film and television production. Her feature GROWN UP MOVIE STAR was a 2010 Official Selection and winner of a Special Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival, and was later nominated for three Genie Awards. Lynne Wilson is a producer of documentary and feature films including the Genie Award winning LOVE & SAVAGERY and the Australian sci-fi cult movie THE 25TH REICH. Wreckhouse’s most recent feature, romantic comedy RELATIVE HAPPINESS, was nominated for the Directors Guild of Canada Best Picture Award and went on to win Best Actress at both the LA Comedy Festival and the Canadian Film Festival. The film which is distributed by Wreckhouse and IndieCan is represented internationally by The Yellow Affair, and after a successful cinema release in Canada, continues to sell in territories around the world. Wreckhouse’s most recent documentary feature, ATLANTIC, an Ireland/Canada co-production directed by Risteard Ó Domhnaill and narrated by Brendan Gleeson won Best Irish Documentary at the Dublin International Film Festival and continues a very successful run on the festival circuit. Wreckhouse’s newest feature film, An Audience of Chairs, a NL/ON co-production directed by Deanne Foley has just been greenlit and will go into production later this year.
Lynne Wilson started her filmmaking career in St. John’s, Canada. She has produced features and documentaries in both Canada and Australia and continues to develop projects for the Canadian, Australian and international markets with partners on both sides of the world. Wilson’s latest feature, romantic comedy RELATIVE HAPPINESS, was directed by Deanne Foley featuring Australian actress Melissa Bergland (Winners & Losers) and Canadians Aaron Poole and Johnathan Sousa. The film is littered with comedic talent including Robb Wells (Trailer Park Boys), Susan Kent (This Hour Has 22 Minutes) and Joel Thomas Hynes (Republic of Doyle). Relative Happiness which is represented internationally by The Yellow Affair started its festival run with a screening at Cannes Marche du Film and was later nominated for Best Picture at the Whistler Film Festival and Best Picture at the DGC Awards. It went on to win Best Actress at the LA Comedy Festival and Best Picture at the Screen Nova Scotia Awards. Wilson produced THE 25TH REICH a tongue in cheek sci-fi adventure written and directed by Stephen Amis starring Jim Knobeloch (Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman). The high concept genre film is represented by international sales agent Lightning Entertainment and has been released in more than a dozen territories worldwide. It was released in Australia by Monster Pictures and Label Distribution in June 2013 and was nominated for Score of the Year at the APRA Screen Music Awards. Wilson is one of the producers of Canada/Ireland co-production LOVE & SAVAGERY directed by John N. Smith (Dangerous Minds, The Boys of St. Vincent) and starring Allan Hawco (Republic of Doyle) and Sarah Greene. The film was released in Canada by Mongrel Media in 2009 and was nominated for four Genie Awards, winning Best Supporting Actress. Wilson’s first venture into feature films teamed her with Cinémaginaire’s producers Denise Robert and Daniel Louis (The Barbarian Invasions) in the production of YOUNG TRIFFIE, a dark comedy directed by Mary Walsh starring Fred Ewanuick, Mary Walsh, Remy Girard, Andrea Martin, Andy Jones, Colin Mochrie, and Cathy Jones. Young Triffie was released in Canada by TVA Films in 2007. Wilson is developing several films in Australia including comedy THE BBQ and real life thriller SKYDOOR based on the 1966 Westall High School UFO occurrence. Wilson is currently adapting Canadian best-selling novels THE COLONY OF UNREQUITED DREAMS, AN AUDIENCE OF CHAIRS and SHOOT ME for the screen, and developing an Australia/Canada co-production based on Tasmania’s Franklin River Blockade. In addition to her work in feature films, Wilson is also an award winning documentary producer including ATLANTIC (an Ireland/Canada co-pro directed by Risteard Ó Domhnaill and narrated by Brendan Gleeson); HARD ROCK AND WATER (directed by Barbara Doran featuring writer Lisa Moore); MOEBIUS REDUX: A LIFE IN PICTURES (a German/Canadian co-pro directed by Hasko Baumann featuring artist Jean Giraud) and FEEL THE EARTH MOVE: THE GROS MORNE PROJECT (directed by Anne Troake featuring choreographer Bill Coleman and ballet dancer Margie Gillis).
