JOHN VATCHER
Established in 2009, Take The Shot Productions Inc. is a television and film production company whose work has garnered critical and commercial success domestically and around the world. TTS produces a variety of both scripted and unscripted projects for television. Productions include the Discovery Canada/Netflix Original Series Frontier starring Game of Thrones’ Jason Momoa, the Gemini-nominated series Republic of Doyle, the hit factual series Majumder Manor, Boy on Bridge featuring Great Big Sea frontman Alan Doyle, and HBO Canada’s Shaun Majumder, Every Word is Absolutely True. In October 2015, TTS and Co-Proucer eOne, announced a new 6-Part series for CBC entitled Caught, based on the novel by the same title.
John Vatcher’s career has spanned over 25 years as a Producer, Director and Cinematographer. An Honours Graduate from Niagara, John began his media career as a CSI/Video Technician with the Niagara and Metro Toronto Police Departments and became the Video Supervisor with Peel Regional. After five years on the force, John moved east to Newfoundland and opened his own commercial production company in St. John’s where he produced over 500 National and Regional spots for clients like General Motors, Ford and Budweiser. In 1995, he started the first visual effects animation studio east of Montreal at Wavelight Productions.
John is currently a Director on the Discovery Canada / Netflix Original Series FRONTIER and directed ten episodes of the Gemini-nominated Republic of Doyle series. John is an Executive Producer of Frontier and Republic of Doyle and was the Producer on Shaun Majumder, Every Word Is Absolutely True (HBO Canada, 2012) and Boy on Bridge (CMT, 2012). Some of John’s past producer credits include: The Breadmaker (2003), BravoFACT’s Wingman (2007) and Making Love in St-Pierre (2003), which he also directed.
