The best place to start is with our introductory film classes! Offered twice a year, these courses are led by prominent local filmmakers, and are designed to be both fun and informative.

Film Class Part I: Basic Film Production

This class takes ten people per course through the basics of production. The class generally takes place over five weeks (one 3-hour session per week and one full day shoot), where participants learn different aspects of filmmaking, including camera, lighting, directing and writing a short script. Part I culminates with a one-day shoot of the script created by the class participants.

                   

Cost: $160.00

 

Film Class Part II: Basic Editing 

Part II takes participants from Class I and instructs them in principles of picture editing and basic instruction on NIFCO’s AVID editing suite. Participants work with the teacher to edit the material they shot during Part I.

They then proceed to a session in Sound editing, Mixing and Colour Correction Suites.  They also create and complete the film credits through the online process.

A new film is born! (And a few new filmmakers…)
